How Hivefo works.

Hivefo is one map of 9,919 hexagons. Each one belongs to an independent project. Claiming yours takes about a minute.

01

Pick a free hexagon

Open the hive and move around: drag to pan, scroll to zoom, or search by name or number. Free hexagons are the empty outlines. Click one to see its zone and price.

The map has four zones. The hive always opens on its center, so the closer you are to it, the more people see you:

  • Core, $990 a year.
  • Crown, $149 a year.
  • Mid, $49 a year.
  • Edge, $19 a year.

Every zone includes the same things. Compare the zones and what each price includes.

Look at the neighbors too. A hexagon next to projects like yours puts you in front of the right visitors.

Add your project

You need a name, a website and a category. Then choose a color and, if you have one, upload a logo.

The logo fills the whole hexagon, so its corners are trimmed. What works best:

  • A square image, 512 × 512 px or larger.
  • The logo centered, with some margin around it.
  • PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG, up to 2 MB.

Before you confirm, you see the hexagon exactly as it will look. Drag the image to reposition it and use the slider to zoom. No logo? Your hexagon shows your initial in your color.

Get your profile

Every hexagon opens a public page with your name, tagline and link, plus the numbers for the last 30 days: profile visits, clicks to your site, click rate and your rank in the zone. It also shows the hexagons around you.

The page has its own address, so you can share it anywhere.

The rules

What keeps the hive fair

  • One hexagon per website. Nobody can buy up the map. If you run several sites, each can have its own.
  • Yearly renewal. A hexagon is yours for a year at a time. If it isn’t renewed, it goes back on the map, so the hive never fills up with dead links.
  • Honest links. Links are marked as sponsored, as search engines require for paid placements. A hexagon brings visibility and clicks, not search rankings. For that, see where to promote an indie project.
